Belated update
I am the worst blogger ever because I'm so bad at updates! Sorry to keep you hanging about Cassidy, but if you went to the baby blog, you read that she only in the hospital a couple days and was doing much better after that. After I post this update, I'll do one over there, too, with some more adorable pictures. (Thank goodness Cassidy is such a beautiful, photogenic baby!)
Breanna is adjusting to motherhood. Some days she seems great; others, not so great. I think the biggest problem is sleep deprivation. One night this week, Bree and Cassidy spent the night here, so I offered for Cassidy to sleep in my room so Bree could sleep through the night. We did pretty well, though I discovered Cassidy is a noisy sleeper! She grunts and sighs and wiggles every few minutes, so that you constantly think she's waking up. She only wakes fully to feed about every 3-4 hours, which isn't bad, but it was hard for me to sleep deeply with all her noises. I was wiped out the next day, but Bree felt great, so it was worth it. I'll offer to do it again, but probably not on a work night. I hardly got anything done the next day.
Regarding Nick, we think he's still on the Marine base under supervision. Bree checked with someone last week and his discharge was still pending. So he had NOT been sent to the Vista jail as of that day. It could still happen anytime, and Breanna's supposed to get a call when it does. He has not attempted to contact her again, fortunately.
Brenden news: He has a job at LegoLand--but really hates it! He thinks it's outrageous what people pay to visit there, and it's even more so when they pay another $5 to play the game at the booth he mans. He has a point, but hey, he's now earning more than minimum wage, so he shouldn't gripe too loudly. On a more positive note, he has signed up with Vista Adult Education for a similar program to what Breanna's in. He will take a Healthcare Essentials class for 13 weeks, and then train for the next 13 weeks as a phlebotomy (blood collection) technician. There will also be an internship in there somewhere, then state certification. As with Breanna's training for Medical Assistant, there is job placement available. They both seem enthused about their courses, so I'm thrilled.
We've had some family visiting from out of town. Both of my sisters have been down to meet Cassidy. Then Dave's dad and step-mom, Bill & Ralene, came from Indiana (on their way to meet a cruise ship to Hawaii!). I will post a couple pictures of restaurant dinners here, and then all the baby pictures on http://babycassidy.blogspot.com/.
This is Bill, Ralene, me and Dave at Monterey Bay Canners:

Prayer requests:
1. Breanna's continued adjustment to motherhood; depression (still considering medication, but not on anything yet); new job (she's looking into another daycare job where she may be able to bring Cassidy with her.
2. Brenden to get his h.s. diploma on schedule in June; to find somewhere else to live when he turns 18 (He can't stay with Johnny after that, according to his parents).
3. Dave's and my transition to the empty nest and both of our midlife re-evaluation seasons. Lots of changes in a short timeframe. Quite a bit to manage.
Thanks for the prayers, love, and support. :)
~Kim
