March 2010
Hi there~
Time for an update from Oceanside........I'm now grandma to a 3-year old. Cassidy's birthday was last Friday, so we've been celebrating all weekend. Here's a cute picture Breanna just had taken.
The other day Bree and I were talking to Cassidy about her birthday, making sure she knew she was now 3 and not 2. Then I asked how old her mommy was... and she said right away, "23"... which is almost accurate (22 1/2 right now). Bree and I looked at each other because we had no idea how she knew that! Then I asked how old I was, and she said "Three and a half." Haha! So it's not like she's a mathematical savant. I guess the "23" was a lucky guess.
Cassidy likes her preschool, though she fusses at drop off and says she wants to stay with her mommy. But her teacher says she's very well behaved and she plays nice with the other children. She's learning lots of songs, and I love hearing her sing them around the house. "Twinkle twinkle," "Three Blind Mice" (her own version!), and lately "Happy Birthday to Me."
Breanna is plugging away at school. She's not working at the moment. She had to submit a new set of fingerprints for her job and it's taking forever to process them.
Brenden is very busy with school and tutoring. I hardly ever see him. He either forgot about Cassidy's birthday party yesterday, or he was too busy with homework to come.
I had to drop the web design class I was signed up to take this spring, because I could quickly tell when I started my new job that I wasn't going to have time for it. I would, if I didn't still have to do the bookkeeping for Cinema Advertising, Dave's and my business that refuses to die! We do not have a contract with Krikorian, but they haven't terminated our services, either. It's weird. The economy has picked up just enough to boost the business a bit, so we're taking it month by month. I still have to do almost everything I used to do for the business, only now I do it in my "spare" time--mornings on the train (on my laptop), evenings when I get home, and weekends, as many hours as needed. I put in at least 10 hours a week, often more. So here's my routine these days:
weekdays:
4:30 get up, shower/dress/do hair and makeup
5:50 leave house for Carlsbad where I catch the train
6:07 - 7:00 train ride to downtown San Diego (Doug's on the same train, usually, which is nice!); work on bookkeeping on laptop
7:10 - 7:40 bus ride to Southpark, where my office is. Read a book or chat with my bus buddies.
7:40 - 4:00 work
4:05 catch bus back to downtown SD
5:52 - 5:45 train commute home. Doug gets on the train in Old Town. We usually watch old episodes of "24" on the commute back to Carlsbad! Timing is perfect to get one episode in.
evenings: errands, dinner, work at my desk on agency biz stuff, keep up on email, check out Facebook, play Scrabble on Facebook. :-)
9:30ish collapse into bed
weekends:
cram everything into 48 hours that I couldn't do during the week (house stuff, shopping, socializing, etc.). Oh and finish any ad agency work that needs doing. Then backup my data so I can load it on the laptop and start the drill over again on Monday morning.
Crazy, huh? Well, somehow I've adapted to the schedule. I'm feeling challenged and productive and I like those feelings. I actually look forward to the train ride. We travel along the coast, and the scenery is wonderful. At some points we are on the cliffs immediately above the breakers. We get to see the sunrise over a number of lagoons east of the train tracks, and the sunset over the Pacific. Now that it's Daylight Savings Time, we'll miss the sunsets, but it'll be nicer for taking some walks in Carlsbad when we get off the train. I really can't complain. :-)
I need to wrap this up. Kelly Gibson will be here soon and we need to work on her web site a bit. I know the link from my last post is no longer live. After the last semester, they must've taken the site off the school's server. I'll post a new link when we have her web site up and running. Later today, Doug and I hope to get out for a ride on the Goldwing. It's been too long since the weather's been nice, and we've both been well at the same time, so that we could go riding!
Take good care and keep in touch.
Lotsa Love,
~Kim
